How to Choose the Right Teak Wood for Outdoor Furniture

Teak wood has long been considered the gold standard for outdoor furniture, prized for its natural durability, weather resistance, and timeless beauty. At Mandiri Abadi, we've worked with teak for over 18 years, and we understand what makes quality teak furniture truly exceptional.

Not all teak wood is created equal. The grade, age, and origin of the teak significantly impact the furniture's longevity and appearance. In this comprehensive guide, we'll help you understand what to look for when selecting teak furniture for your outdoor spaces.

Understanding Teak Wood Grades

Grade A Teak: Cut from the heartwood of mature teak trees (40-50+ years old), Grade A offers the highest oil content, tightest grain, and richest golden-brown color. This premium grade provides maximum weather resistance and will age gracefully to a silvery patina or maintain its color with regular oiling.

Grade B Teak: Sourced from younger trees or outer sapwood sections, Grade B features lighter color variations and slightly wider grain patterns. While still durable for outdoor use, it requires more frequent maintenance to preserve its appearance.

Grade C Teak: Harvested from plantation-grown younger trees, this grade offers good value for covered outdoor areas but is less suitable for full sun exposure and heavy rain.
